A British design classic The 1227 Anglepoise wall lamp, designed by George Carwardine in 1932.
Used in Great British institutions such as the BBC & Ministry Of Defence. The lamp during World War 2 was made with a battery pack to be used in bomber planes. According to the Anglepoise website, these were so well produced that when a crashed Vickers Wellington bomber was salvaged from Loch Ness in Scotland in 1985, the lamp still worked after being given a new battery – despite being submerged for around four decades.
This version The 1227 Anglepoise wall lamp was made between 1935 & 1968 by the company Herbert Terry & Sons.
