Large vintage 1940s station / factory clock by Gents of Leicester. It has had , " RELIANCE " painted over the " GENTS " insignia on the face of the clock as this clock was in use at the RELIANCE steel foundry's. When you look closely you can still see the GENTS Of Leicester insignia below.
Original heavy black steel case with great signs of age & use, original glass & clock hands all in very good condition. Cleaned & converted to run on battery's rather than electricity, but still using its original GENTS clock mechanism.
Gents' of Leicester, also known as Gents & Company Limited, was established in Leicester, England, in 1872 by John Thomas Gent. For over a century, the company was a well-known manufacturer of electrical equipment, in particular its electric clocks, which were used in public buildings and railway stations all over the world.
